Join us as multi Walkley Award winning journalist, Thom Cookes, shares his experiences and insights from years of investigative reporting in conflict zones around the globe, on what makes a good person. We all have a vague idea of what we think a good person looks like, but when we try to explain what that 'something' is it can be hard to do.
Thom shares real world experiences of seeing people at their best even though everything they have has just been ripped away from them, and distils those traits down to things all of us can practice or do more of to become a better person.
Thom is a journalist, producer and camera operator, working in factual/current affairs broadcast and online media.
He has extensive post-production and online experience, and over 20 years of reporting and filming in remote, conflict and disaster zones, including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Somalia, Kosovo, the Palestinian Territories, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, the PNG Highlands, Southern Thailand, Cambodia, West Africa, Colombia, Brazil, Guatemala, Honduras etc., as well as two Walkley Awards for international journalism and a Quill for cinematography (in Afghanistan).
